Microblading vs Micropigmentation

We can’t even remember when the eyebrow trend started, and people started to grow them out from the thin barely there style we had all grown accustomed to.

One thing is for sure though, big eyebrows are not going anywhere!

Two of the biggest beauty treatments for eyebrows that have recently risen to fame are Microblading and Micropigmentation. On first glance, they come across as similar treatments however they are actually quite different, and at SS Brow & Beauty we wanted to explain the difference.

Microblading:

Microblading is a technique using a super-fine pen, which has very fine bundles of around 12 needles that deposit pigment into the skin. The tip is so fine that it can create hair strokes that look incredibly real. Don’t worry, the needles reach only into the superficial layers of the skin, which is what makes the method semi-permanent.

Yes, it hurts, but we do use a numbing cream to help your experience.

Microblading does give a very natural look, but results can vary. It can last anywhere from 12 months to 18months, depending on your lifestyle (Sun exposure, exfoliants, etc).

The whole process takes a few hours, including numbing time, and healing takes up to 2 weeks. However, it’s important to note that the colour tends to settle in more naturally after a month, with a 6-8 week top up finishing up the results.

Micropigmentation:

Micropigmentation is actually the number one choice for Permanent makeup professionals worldwide. Mainly because there’s more control in the end result, meaning that if you prefer a more natural, soft or intense look, it’s all possible, no matter the skin type.

Unlike Microblading it’s a refined digital device and 20 needle formations to choose from, and this allows the pigment to penetrate the skin efficiently, which makes the pigment last longer.

The healing time is similar to Microbladed brows, but the results for The results of Micropigmentation last 2-3 times longer!

With both of these treatments, we do insist on a consultation and patch test, but this does allow you to ask any questions you need to, and for us to ensure you’re not allergic to the pigment.
